Magic Moments > 2015 > Angie's Return Episode 7191

Written by Stephen Vagg and Sam Meikle, Directed by Scott Major, Produced by Jason Herbison

Channel Eleven: 17/08/15, Channel 5: 31/08/15

Toadie reassuring Sonya that he will get better... Karl trying to explain the seriousness of the situation to Sonya... Imogen planning to defend her relationship with Daniel... Brad annoyed at his wife making decisions without consulting him... Amber telling ‘Phoebe’ about her mum and Brad... Josh warning his mum to treat his dad better or he’ll go elsewhere...

At number 30, Amy tells Sonya about the plans she is making for the house to make it wheelchair-friendly. Sonya is appreciative of the effort Amy is putting in as she’s finding things tough at the moment. Amy asks how she's coping, and Sonya says: “Honestly, I have no idea, with the nursery, trying to find a babysitter for Nell before she starts daycare and contacting all the insurers, I think I’ve entered another dimension...” “Sounds like a black hole to me!” is Amy’s reply. She volunteers to pay more rent now she’s paid off her ex’s debts but Sonya turns the offer down, telling Amy that she is doing more than her fair share. Sonya then takes a call from the insurance company and from the look on her face it’s not good news.

..

Over at Erinsborough Hospital, Karl gives Toadie the good news that since his condition hasn’t deteriorated, they will soon be looking at rehab options. Karl refuses though to give Sonya a timescale on when he’s likely to get home, or an idea of how fast or slow his improvement will be, however does say if all goes well, Toadie will be in a wheelchair in a couple of weeks. After Karl leaves, Toadie reassures Sonya to stop stressing, and asks how the insurance claim is going. Sonya breaks the news of the conversation she had earlier – because their card was cancelled due to the fraudulent activity, she forgot to update their direct debit details so their premiums haven’t been paid. “So we're not covered,” he says aloud and Sonya can't stop apologising and when he suggests giving them a call and explaining, she tells him she’s already done that and they aren't budging. Toadie tries to reassure her they can cope but she isn't sure how long they'll be able to manage. Tearfully, after apologising again, she leaves as she's remembered a delivery is due at the nursery.

Outside Off Air, Imogen tells Daniel, as he's clearing tables, that Toadie just called wanting her to bring some files to him in the hospital. Imogen thinks that he'll want to see all the mistakes she’s been making, but Daniel disagrees. Imogen can’t help but apologise to Daniel for her parents' behaviour, insisting that she plans on sorting them out, however Daniel thinks she shouldn’t be doing that. A small disagreement starts to rise between the pair and a worried Imogen heads off telling Daniel that she needs to get the stuff to Toadie, whilst Daniel continues to clear tables.

..

At number 22, Josh and Aaron are practicing their latest routine; Aaron states that he’s going to say to the ladies “Nobody puts baby in the corner” claiming that they are the sexiest words to a woman of a certain age. Josh, however, is not really concentrating on the dance routine or what Aaron is saying. Aaron tells Josh to talk to ‘Dr Aaron’ and Josh proceeds to tell him about the latest pickle he’s got himself into - knowing about Brad and Lauren from Amber who didn’t know it was him she told and the talk he then had with his mum. Aaron says that catfishing isn't easy and Josh says to Aaron, “Oh man, pretending to be someone else sucks!”

Down at The Waterhole, Nate isn't too impressed as he overhears the conversation Paul was having (wanting to be photographed at the school concert with a teenage mum rather than Brad!) but after hanging up, Paul explains to him it’s to show he is a caring mayor! Terese stomps into the bar and asks Nate for a glass of red wine. He reminds her that she’s supposed to be staying sober, as he’s sponsoring her, but Paul interjects and says that Terese can pay $25 to break the abstinence for one night and that he's buying... and he hands her over a $100 note. Nate claims that this is cheating, but Paul tells him that the money goes to charity, so Nate reluctantly gives Terese the wine.

..

Later, Paul asks about the wine, as Terese sits staring into space. She then says: “It’s about $95 overpriced but it’s taken the edge off...” Paul goes to join her and asks where 'the edge’ came from, Terese tells him about the lecture Josh gave about how she's been treating Brad and if she keeps it up he’ll go elsewhere. “What? Meaning Lauren?” Paul says. “That’s what I immediately thought,” is Terese’s reply. She admits it’s tense between her and Brad and that they are fighting about everything, and wonders if she may be pushing him away, if not into Lauren’s arms then some other woman. Paul is surprised when Terese asks him for advice, given the number of times he’s divorced! Knowing his experience, she asks if she is a bad wife and he jokes that he's not been married to her! Joking aside, Paul reassures Terese that, from what he can tell, she’s been a wonderful wife. “Really?!” is Terese’s shocked response and Paul says to her, “You’ve always supported Brad both emotionally and financially. You put up with his career changes, his love children, and his ex-girlfriends. I mean most women would have cut and run but not you.” Terese is now confused as to why Josh said what he did, but Paul points out that ultimately it’s only the people in the relationship whose opinions count and gives into her request not to go to the rehearsal but to stay and chat more.

At the hospital, Imogen brings Toadie up to speed on the work she’s done and when things need to be actioned by him. He then breaks it to her that, due to cash flow problems, she might not be guaranteed her job for a bit.

..

Back at The Waterhole, Terese laments to Paul that things, while not perfect, used to be so easy between her and Brad and thanks him for not running her husband into the ground like he normally does. “You’re welcome,” he replies before telling her he needs to head off for the inter-school competition. Terese then contemplates going with him, to show support to Brad, but Paul thinks Brad will be too busy running things and getting stressed out. Paul suggests she goes home, takes it easy and to make it up with Brad when he gets home. Terese agrees and thanks Paul again.

The school have taken over the uni courtyard for the inter-school competition and Brad tells the kids to get ready. Karl arrives with a flask of hot tea for Susan, and says that he might stick around to give the students some performing tips! He then asks where Ben is, and Brad explains that he's warming up. Karl tells Brad that he is ‘stoked’ that his grandson is playing. Brad then gets a text from Lauren, asking if she can bring him any hot drinks, Brad tells Karl about the text, adding that there is nothing from his wife and tells him that things ‘could be better’ when Karl asks how things are going. Paul arrives for the photo op but refuses to say exactly what delayed him apart from commenting that he was helping out a friend. Brad looks surprised at Paul, who says to them both, “Don’t look so surprised, beneath this hard exterior lies a heart of gold.” “Well there’s a heart, I’ve seen the scan,” comes Karl’s quick reply.

Back at the hospital, Sonya isn't too impressed to discover Toadie working when she walks back into his room. Despite Toadie’s protestations, she hauls the documents from him because she doesn’t think that will help the swelling in his back. The pair of them start having a domestic just as a visitor arrives – Angie! “Looks like I arrived in the nick of time! Good thing I didn’t take you seriously! Fighting like a couple of kill kitty cats you were”. Sonya struggles to hide her horror at seeing her mother-in-law.

Daniel enters Harold’s and spots Imogen, not too impressed to discover that she hasn’t told him about being let go from Toadie’s, as she sits in the store going through the files to do a handover. She explains that after their fight about her parents she didn’t feel like telling him. Daniel didn't think that was a fight but admits to Imogen that he loves the ‘standing up for herself’ side and points out that friction creates electricity which then creates kissing. They kiss. Daniel tells Imogen that it ‘sucks’ about the job, Imogen states that the Rebecchis are low on money. Daniel, looking at the inter-school concert poster, gets an idea and tells Imogen that they might not have to be.

..

Despite Toadie protesting that he’s fine, Angie sets put on cleaning her son up as she thinks that he’s grubby. She then tempts him into some of her cooking - a bacon and peanut butter toasted sandwich instead of the insubstantial food Sonya has brought in. When Sonya starts to protest to Angie that she can look after her own husband, Angie quickly agrees with her but thinks that she’s already got her hands full so is just lending a hand. Angie has also brought back the slanket she got for Mother’s Day, remarking that it’s more practical than the ‘perverted excuse for a nightie' he sent her by mistake!

Imogen and Daniel arrive at the Waterhole to rope Josh, Aaron and Nate into helping organise a benefit concert for the Rebecchi family. Josh is up for it but the conversation gets side-tracked when Imogen asks about the new phone Josh has - Aaron is quick off the mark and explains that it’s for their dancing work. Happy with the answer, the duo depart and Josh thanks Aaron for stepping in, telling him he is going to come clean to Amber but he's not sure when.

..

At number 30, Sonya introduces Amy to Angie and explains that she is going to be staying, “for as long as my boy needs me,” Angie informs them. Angie spots the drawings Amy is still doing and Sonya explains it’s to accommodate Jarrod’s wheelchair. Information of a wheelchair is news to Angie, as Toadie told her he’d be okay, and Sonya explains they didn’t tell her the full truth, that the injuries are worse than they said. “What do you mean?” Angie nervously asks and Sonya explains that they won't know until the swelling goes down but that it will be a long recovery so they want to be prepared. Now fully informed, Angie wants to get involved in the planning but first she wants to see Nell, ignoring Sonya telling her not to disturb her as she’s sleeping in her haste to get to the bedroom. Amy says to Sonya, “She’s um… friendly!” “Well that’s one word for it!” is Sonya’s reply.

At the Willishouse, Terese, with a glass of wine, decorates the sun room to make it romantic. There are roses, romantic music and lit candles but then she suddenly stops when she sees Brad’s carving in the wheelie bin and gets out her phone and calls for a taxi.

..

At Eden University, Paul does his introductory speech before he makes way for Brad to get the night properly going by introducing the first student. However just as he’s done that, Terese has arrived but due to her drunken state, walks straight into some music stands. Brad comes rushing down to check she’s okay and signals for the student to begin while he takes his wife aside to ask why she is there. “To see you,” is her reply and when he asks if she’s been drinking, she replies “barely,” although he thinks otherwise given what just happened. “It was just one glass,” Terese protests. Just like Nate, Brad reminds her she is supposed to be alcohol free and suggests to her that she should go home. Terese says to Brad, “I came all this way to see you!” Brad tells her to go home, “But… I…I came to apologise and to support you and, what, you're going to just throw it back in my face?!” Terese replies, struggling with her words. Brad remains silent; Terese adds, “Yeah well, you know, well stuff you! STUFF YOU AND I’M SORRY I’M SUCH AN EMBARRASSMENT!" Due to the volume of Terese's voice, it’s now gone awfully quiet as the first performer has stopped playing and everyone tries to suddenly look elsewhere but at Brad and Terese.
