When Lou Carpenter funded an Asian tour of Hello Dolly, featuring his new wife, Trixie Tucker, in the lead role, things went from bad to worse. In Hong Kong, Trixie was informed by stage manager Billy Chan that the evening’s production had been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Not wanting to disappoint Lou, however, she pretended to go out and perform, before returning to the hotel, claiming that the show had been a big success. However, the following day, Billy informed Trixie that the entire run of the show had been cancelled and, back at the hotel, she was left with a lot of explaining to do when Lou got off the phone from the theatre manager.
