Su Chan was studying medicine in Hong Kong during the early 1960’s when she had a holiday romance with 21 year old Australian; Lou Carpenter. He was on his first overseas vacation, and once it was time for him to return to Brisbane, he was keen to take Su back with him. But Su wanted to finish her studies so their relationship ended there. Little did they know then that Su was pregnant. Their daughter, Ling Mai, grew up without her father but, over thirty years after her parents had separated, she decided to track Lou down and break the shocking news to him.
