Alfie Dougherty

When Harold Bishop spotted a wanted armed robber on the news, he was stunned to realise that the criminal was the spitting image of himself. To make matters worse, Harold had been living in Tasmania, where the robberies had been committed, at the time and suffering from amnesia, so couldn’t be certain that he wasn’t guilty. After being questioned, identified by a witness and bailed in a Tasmanian court, Harold returned home to Erinsborough where he found himself being followed by a woman named Wendy Baker. Wendy also believed Harold to be the robber, a man named Alfie Dougherty, but accepted that Harold wasn’t him after asking to see a tattoo. It emerged that Alfie and Wendy had been accomplices and he’d taken off without giving her a share of the money, but worried that she couldn’t clear Harold’s name without going to the police and dropping herself in it, Wendy disappeared. She then proceeded to blackmail Harold before finally agreeing to speak to the police, realising that an innocent man didn’t deserve to be punished for Alfie’s crimes. Wendy kept to her word and Alfie was arrested a few days later, clearing Harold’s name in the process.
