Peter Harris was a strongly career minded man, which made him a good match for his glamorous wife Amanda Mangel, who was of a similar inclination. Even after the birth of their only child, Jane, in 1969, the couple remained firmly focused on work. Sadly this meant Jane was often ignored and in 1986 she was sent to live with her grandmother, Nell Mangel, while Peter and Amanda were working overseas.
