When Erinsborough High student Bree Timmins appeared on chatshow Rove Live to promote the novel, The Bogan’s Tipped Hair, which she’d helped her mum to write, her television debut was played in one of her classes, and student Kiefer Holt proceeded to heckle her and call her a loser. Bree’s boyfriend Zeke Kinski quickly jumped to her defence and a fight broke out, with Zeke unable to tell Bree that this wasn’t the first time he’d had to defend her honour from nasty comments behind her back. Though Kiefer apologised the next day, Zeke couldn’t open up about why he’d acted the way he did and found himself with a one-week suspension. Some months later, Zeke was fighting with Kiefer once again, when he started picking on blind student Anne Baxter, and found himself punished once more, this time with a detention.
