Max Hoyland’s first wife chose to go by both her first and middle names, Anna and Claire, which often caused confusion to those who didn’t know her, but she was most often known as Claire. After Max and Claire married, they had their first child, Boyd in 1987 and their second, Summer, in 1991.

Claire enjoyed music and played the piano, which Summer would later excel at. Tragically, Anna Claire’s life was cut short when she died of an undiagnosed heart condition while her children were still very young.
