Chloe Jones 2015

When Clem Hanley moved to Erinsborough with his father, Ezra, and started attending the local high school, his odd behaviour immediately gave concern to teacher Brad Willis. The previous year, Brad's wife Terese had accused Ezra of attempting to assault her, and once alone, Clem immediately turned on Brad, calling Terese a scrag, then denying all knowledge of the incident to school principal Susan Kennedy. When Brad then spotted Clem receiving a text message in class and then asked to go to the toilet, looking upset at what he'd just read, Brad confiscated the phone and Clem refused to talk about what had happened. Brad noticed a message from someone named Chloe, but Clem continued to act like Brad was victimising him, and the teacher found himself suspended. Both Susan and Terese became worried about Clem's behaviour and tried to get him to open up about what had happened, particularly as it seemed that Ezra was also determined to stop his son from talking, after bribing him with some expensive trading cards. Finally, Clem went to Susan and explained that Chloe was his ex-girlfriend, who he'd split up with back in Perth after she'd accused Ezra of trying to assault her. He told Susan that he'd always believed that both Terese and Chloe were lying about what had happened to them, but now he'd realised that they were telling the truth all along.

As Clem flew back to Perth the next day to live with his mum, it was left to Susan to report what she'd been told. The police took Ezra in for questioning, but as Chloe had never reported the incident to the police, there was little more that they could do. Determined that Ezra wasn't about to get away with it again, Terese tracked down Chloe on social media and arranged a video chat, claiming that she wanted to offer her an internship. When an excited Chloe responded, Terese apologised for the deception and explained that she wanted to talk about Ezra Hanley. Visibly upset at the mention of his name, Chloe was preparing to hang up, until Terese said that Ezra had attempted to assault her too, and had gotten away with it, so they needed her to go to the police and speak up, before he did something like this again. Chloe then agreed to give a statement to the police in Western Australia, and Ezra was arrested for assault later that day.
