Whilst hiding from loan sharks in Erinsborough, Sebastian Metcalfe was spotted by Dex Varga-Murphy in the old builder's yard on Power Road. After Dex mentioned this to Leo Tanaka, Leo then bumped into a man named Chips McAlpine, who claimed that he was Seb's cousin and had come down from Sydney to spend Christmas with him. Leo decided to tell him where to find Seb, and this decision proved to be dangerous not only for Seb, but also for Max Ramsay and Sadie Rodwell, when an accomplice of Chips drove his car straight at Seb and Sadie, who had stopped to hand him some money that he'd dropped. As Max saw what was happening and attempted to push Sadie out of the road, they, along with Seb, found themselves directly in the path of the speeding car. The incident left Max and Sadie with minor cuts and bruises, while Seb suffered from a fractured collar bone. The driver, meanwhile, was knocked unconscious and when he eventually woke up in hospital was charged and refused bail.
