When a customer named Brian Williams started getting rowdy in Lou’s pub one evening, then broke a glass, Lou told co-owner Max Hoyland to keep an eye on him. When Max then refused to serve Brian any more alcohol, gave him a glass of water instead and went to call him a taxi, Brian poured the water over the counter. Max got angry and was about to punch Brian when Lou stepped in, and an ashamed Max realised that his son Boyd had witnessed the whole thing, leaving Max to realise that he had a problem controlling his anger.

• Roy previously appeared as Max Tyner and Doug Bainbridge in 1997, as Sean Brady in 1999 and returned as the first, unseen actor to play Greg Baxter in 2006
