Kenya 1995
Characters Featured: Susan Kennedy, Brett Stark, Scott, Rachael, Kapaito

After winning a school essay-writing contest, Brett Stark was offered the chance to go to Africa with World Vision, taking his teacher Susan Kennedy along as chaperone. The pair landed in Nairobi, where they spent a little time with Scott from World Vision and their guide Rachael, and visited the markets and saw the shanty towns. They then headed further out to meet children at a school in a remote area, and go on a safari.

The trip proved to be a lifechanging one for both Susan and Brett. Susan, after seeing the mass graves, dreamt of her younger self placing flowers on her mother's grave, while Brett bonded with a boy named Kapaito and the pair walked the plains together, before Brett had a dream of his own, imagining his mother looking down on everything he was doing. As the trip came to an end, Brett had decided that he would no longer allow his mum to control his life and he didn't want to go to university yet, while Susan admitted that she had committed euthanasia and ended her mum's life over 20 years ago.

Trivia Notes
• The location material recorded in Africa was apparently re-edited into a 90-minute special, Neighbours: Africa Dreaming, though it is unknown which, if any, markets it actually aired in
