Yorkshire, United Kingdom 1990
Characters Featured: Harold Bishop, Madge Bishop, Rosemary Daniels, Lord Ledgewood

Following a Lotto win, Madge and Harold Bishop decided to do some travelling and, whilst visiting the UK, they went to the Ledgewood Estate in Yorkshire. Whilst looking around the grounds, they were surprised to bump into Rosemary Daniels, the daughter of their neighbour Helen. Rosemary was visiting from New York, arranging for American tourists to stay in stately homes, and had come to speak with Lord Ledgewood. Madge and Harold, meanwhile, continued looking around and, after a strange conversation with the gardener, Madge found a large stone, with 1667 written on it. Believing it to be one of the original stones from the house, Madge took it, as she had been collecting a stone as a souvenir from every place they went. Later, they met Rosemary as she was leaving, and she explained that she had been unable to speak to Lord Ledgewood, so Madge and Harold offered to bring a letter, detailing her tourism plan, the following day when they returned to see the interior of the house. Harold, meanwhile, was uncomfortable with Madge taking the stone and tried to get her to show it to Rosemary, but as they argued, it fell to the ground and smashed. Rosemary was amused, showing them a similar stone she had bought in the gift shop to use as a doorstop - with the letter L followed by the issue number, and pointed out that Madge had been holding the stone upside-down, and it was actually L991.

The next day, Madge and Harold returned, with Rosemary's letter, only to be told that they couldn't see Lord Ledgewood. They left, with Madge complaining about the toffee-nosed Lord not willing to mingle with the public, and again bumped into the strange gardener, who talked to them about being from Australia and it being a long way away. Madge was surprised when Rosemary then arrived, explaining that she'd managed to get a later flight home and had come to try again with Lord Ledgewood. Madge explained that he'd refused to speak to them, but was shocked when Rosemary then recognised the gardener as Lord Ledgewood, and his local accent suddenly changed into a posh one. Inside, he explained that he had asked his staff not to disturb him, and, thanks to his past in amateur dramatics, he often pretended to be someone else, so he could mingle with the public. Though Rosemary was worried that Madge's behaviour had blown the deal, Lord Ledgewood agreed to speak to her about it, while Madge and Harold were delighted to have such an interesting tale to tell their friends back in Ramsay Street.

Trivia Notes
• Though supposed to be set in Yorkshire, these scenes were actually filmed at the Lyme Park estate in Cheshire
