Daphne's house 1985
Residents: Daphne Lawrence (1985), Ian Burns (1985), Rachel Burns (1985)

With her housemate and landlord Des Clarke about to get married, Daphne Lawrence was struggling to find somewhere else to live, and contacted many real estate agents, eventually being approached to housesit for three months at the home of Ian Burns, a businessman who was going overseas. Daphne was delighted when she saw the big house, in a nice area of town, and signed a three-month lease. However, soon after moving in, Daphne noticed strange things, such as windows being open and lights being on, when she was sure she hadn't touched them. After worrying for a few days that there was a prowler in her house, and even calling in the police, Daphne caught a young girl, who said she was Ian Burns' daughter, Rachel.

Daphne agreed to try and help Rachel, but it wasn't long before Ian heard from his ex-wife Margaret that their daughter had gone missing. He returned from a trip to Hong Kong, determined that Rachel had to go back to her mother and stepfather, but Daphne made him see how unhappy his daughter was, and that he needed to start talking to her. Eventually, after Rachel had attempted to run away again, Ian called on Margaret and her husband Don, and they tried to come to an agreement on their own, until Daphne pointed out that they were once again excluding their daughter. Rachel admitted that she wanted to stay with her dad, but said that she'd go to her mum's house when he was away on business trips. Though Ian and Rachel told Daphne that she was welcome to stay for as long as she needed, she moved out soon afterwards.
