Owned by his friend Doug, who was away in Europe, Marco’s grand apartment in the Yarra Valley provided the perfect backdrop for his many dinner parties and gatherings of his large Italian family. After going into business on a website with Carmella Cammeniti, she met him at his apartment, where, after a lunch going over business plans, pregnant Carmella suddenly had terrible pains in her stomach and was rushed to hospital. A few weeks later, after a Christmas cocktail party hosted by Marco and Carmella, they slept together for the first time and, the next morning, she met his mum, Patrizia. Days later, Marco got word that Doug was on his way back from Zagreb and, after three years of housesitting, he'd have to find somewhere else to live.
