Tottie Goldsmith
Played: Cassandra Freedman
Appeared: 2009

Born 27th August 1962 to Brian Goldsmith and actress Rhona Newton-John, and with Olivia Newton-John as her aunt, Caroline 'Tottie' Goldsmith was destined for a career in showbusiness. Her early television roles included Toni in The Young Doctors, Gloria in Prisoner: Cell Block H and Glynnis in The Henderson Kids, but it was through singing that Tottie became a household name in Australia. Tottie was part of The Chantoozies, an eight-piece band formed to perform at Tottie's 25th birthday party, which also included her brother Brett and another former Neighbours actress, Ally Fowler, who had only just completed filming her Neighbours role as Zoe Davies when the band formed. The Chantoozies went on to release two albums and numerous top 40 singles between 1986 and 1991, though Tottie left the band in mid-1990 to pursue a solo career.

Tottie returned to television in the mid-90s as the host of lifestyle series Sex/Life, and in 1996 joined the second series of firefighting drama Fire as Tex. Tottie went on to have guest roles in dramas including Stingers, Blue Heelers and The Secret Life Of Us and entertainment shows including The Price Is Right, Celebrity Singing Bee and Hole In The Wall. Her stage roles have included Grease, The New Rocky Horror Show and The Vagina Monologues. Recently, Tottie has released her own set of relaxation CDs and in May 2005, she visited the Middle East to perform for the troops stationed there.

Tottie was married to Australian champion skier Steven Lee, with whom she has a daughter, Layla. In 2008, she became engaged to businessman James Mayo, though the relationship ended later that year. It was during her time with James in Sydney that Tottie was offered the role of maneater Cassandra Freedman in Neighbours. She jumped at the chance, stating that such meaty roles for women over 40 were a rarity, and she went on to film as Cass for 11 weeks, debuting on Australian screens in February 2009.
