Ryan Moloney
Played: Cyborg/Jarrod 'Toadfish' Rebecchi
Appeared: 1994/1995-

Ryan Moloney was born in the Yarra Ranges of Melbourne, Victoria on 24th November 1979. Having begun his acting career at the age of 10 at the Merilyn Brand Children, Teenagers and Adults Theatre Company, Ryan appeared in his first film, Say A Little Prayer at the age of 14.

Two years later, Ryan made a brief appearance in the show that would later become his place of work for over a decade, Neighbours. Having originally auditioned for the role of Brett Stark, 1994 saw Ryan make his first appearance in Neighbours as guest character, Cyborg. The following year, Ryan returned to Nunawading for another brief guest role, this time as Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi, the younger brother of popular character, Stonefish. Initially only supposed to be a one scene appearance, Ryan recalled how the development of Toadie came about in a 2007 Perfect Blend interview:

“Toadie was only supposed to be in the one scene. So, going along they would call and offer another couple and another couple of weeks and then another couple of months and there here we are.”

In November 2003, Ryan married his long term girlfriend, Alison Hayward, with whom he has two children, Erin Grace, born in 2006 and Jack born in 2008.

2004 saw Ryan star in extremely successful production, Honesty, at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which resulted in a sell out season, breaking box office records. Ryan was also nominated for a Rose d’Or award for Best Male Performance in Soap for his role as Toadie, missing out to EastEnders’ Shane Ritchie.

As well as appearing in Neighbours, Ryan is the National Ambassador and MC for the Careers & Employment Expos and an active supporter of charities, Forgotten Children Rescue Foundation, to whom he was introduced by fellow Neighbours cast member, Andrew Bibby, and the Down Syndrome Association of Victoria.
