Alyce Platt
Played: Jen Handley and Olivia Bell
Appeared: 1995-1996 and 2012

Born 19th December 1963, in Melbourne, Victoria, Alyce Platt wanted to perform from an early age, singing in local competitions and, as a teenager, attending a drama course at Box Hill Technical College. In 1982, her star began to rise as she won Search For A Star and began appearing on television in sketches for series including The Paul Hogan Show.

The following year, she got her big break when she won the role of Amanda Morrell in the long-running soap opera Sons And Daughters. She remained in the role for two years, before quitting to try her luck elsewhere. The move paid off, as she then became Tony Barber’s co-host on the television quiz, Sale of the Century, a role which allowed her to sing as well as present and saw her become an extremely popular personality across Australia. She then quit, along with Tony Barber, in 1991, after five years.

In the 1990s, Alyce continued to make guest appearances in numerous Australian drama series’ including A Country Practice, Janus and Halifax FP. Her second regular soap role came when she joined the cast of Neighbours as medical student Jen Handley, who quickly became a love interest for the character of Philip Martin, played by Ian Rawlings – who, ten years earlier, had been Alyce’s leading man on Sons And Daughters. Alyce started filming as Jen in late 1994 and remained with the role for a year.

More guest roles, in series including Good Guys Bad Guys, State Coroner and Blue Heelers followed, before Alyce returned to her original love of music. With a few small acting parts along the way, Alyce released her debut album, Cowboys In The Attic under the name Bakers Daughter, in 2000, followed by a second album, Beautiful Death, under her own name, in 2003. As well as performing with her band, In The Flesh, she released a third album, Live From The Vault in 2006.

More recently, Alyce has had guest roles in City Homicide, Rush and Satisfaction and played Anita in The Elephant Princess. In 2012, she returned to the Neighbours cast for two episodes as Karl Kennedy's internet date, Olivia Bell.
