Born on the 12th February 1979 in Melbourne, Australia. Jesse attended the Scotch College in Melbourne and it was during this time that he auditioned for the role of Billy Kennedy in Neighbours.

The youngest of three siblings, Jesse’s character Billy arrived on Ramsay Street on the 27th September 1994 with his family from the countryside and after six years on the show he departed on the 5th April 2000. He made a small appearance on the show on the 5th April 2005 to celebrate Neighbours’ 20th anniversary.

In 1998 and 1999 Jesse won the Silver Logie award for the Most Popular TV Actor for his role as Billy Kennedy in Neighbours.

Since leaving Neighbours, Jesse has continued acting on television and stage. His most popular roles include one of the main characters Dr. Robert Chase on the Fox medical drama House from 2002 to 2012. During this time he was nominated for "Choice TV Breakout Performance – Male" at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards and "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series" at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Awards. He received a "Golden Boomerang" at the 2006 Australians in Film Breakthrough Awards for his work on House. In 2012, he joined the American drama series Chicago Fire as Lt. Matthew Casey.

Jesse has acted in the following films: Lorna Doone (2000); Curse of the Talisman (2001); Winning London (2001); Stranded (2002); Swimming Upstream (2003); Uptown Girls (2003); Death in Holy Orders (2003) ; Flourish (2006); Tell-Tale Lover (2010); Skum Rocks (2013) and The Girl Is in Trouble (2015).

On top of his acting, Jesse is a musician and began his musical career with the Australian Boys choir and sang with them for six years. Jesse also plays the violin in Band from TV, which also includes his former House co-star Hugh Laurie.
