Born 22nd October 1983, Rhys Uhlich completed a BA in psychology and television documentary, and was working as a part-time primary school PE teacher on Philip Island when he first rose to fame in 2008 as the winner of Channel Seven's Make Me A Supermodel, having worked as a part-time model since he was a teenager. In 2009, he appeared on panel show Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation and as a reporter on The Circle, and in 2010, he became a father for the first time, to a daughter named Indah.

Rhys's acting work has included an episode of Winners and Losers and the film Blowback, and in 2012, he joined the cast of Neighbours for a guest role as country boy Scotty Boland. Scotty first appeared on screen at the end of 2012, and featured in several episodes in 2013. Rhys's other interests include surfing and film-making, and in 2012, he launched his own clothing range named Tevita.
