Rene Zandveld 2007-
Roles: Actor, Storyliner, Scriptwriter, Supervising Script Editor

Having originally trained as a Drama Teacher, Rene Zandveld decided to change his career, becoming an actor himself. Making numerous guest appearances in Neighbours, the first being in 1992, playing the man who witnessed the road accident which resulted in the death of Todd Landers, followed by two more appearances in 1993 as a News Reporter and Bank Teller, Rene realised that acting wasn't for right path, taking a job in a call centre during the day whilst studying for a diploma in screenwriting at night.

In 2004, Rene wrote his first script on a drama series called Last Man Standing with Neighbours' writers, Marieke Hardy and Jeff Truman and directors Adrian Holmes and Jeffrey Walker, which led to him furthering his career as a writer, co-writing a script Teen Spirit with Edwina Exton and writing an episode of TV series, Rush.

Spending six weeks in the story room at Neighbours in 2007, Rene was offered an ongoing contract as a storyliner, but was unable to accept at the time. In 2008, he wrote his first script for the show, episode 5603, continuing to do so alongside his current role as one of the show's Supervising Script Editors.

In 2010, Rene was nominated for an Australian Writer's Guild Award (AWGIE) for episode 5782.
