Layla Azikiwe 2014

The flirty grandmother of Bailey Turner's girlfriend Alice, Layla Azikiwe was very pleased to meet Bailey, and was immediately taken with his grandfather Lou Carpenter. Layla commented on Lou's likeness to the author E.M. Williams, whose erotic short stories, The Book of Secrets, had been taking Erinsborough by storm. Lou explained that he was E.M. Williams, and Layla was very excited by this news, explaining that she'd been widowed several years ago, but those stories had stirred up some long-forgotten feelings in her.

Lou then asked Bailey if he could ask Alice for her grandmother's phone number, which he reluctantly passed on, and Lou arranged a date at the ballet. As he and Layla got to know each other better, she continued to talk about his work as a novelist and asked him back to her hotel room, to reenact some of the scenes. As Lou hadn't even read the book he was claiming to have written, he struggled to know what to do, and attempted to get some pointers from Karl, the real author, who refused to help. As Layla began her attempts to seduce Lou, he finally fled from the room, only to arrive home and find her there waiting for him. Alice later told Lou that her grandmother wasn't the type of woman to give up easily, so Lou realised that his only hope of escape was to leave the country - so he brought forward a planned trip to visit his daughter in Cambodia.
