When brothers Shane and Danny Ramsay were involved in a collision with a speeding car, which was trying to escape the police after robbing Pacific Bank, Shane, a promising Olympic diver, ended up being the more seriously injured of the two. As Danny woke up on the wards, he was visited by Dr Lockyer, who explained that Shane was in surgery, but she'd let him know if there was any news. She then gave the same information to the boys' worried parents, Max and Maria. Though Shane pulled through surgery, Dr Lockyer informed him that there were a few broken ribs and damage to his spinal cord and later explained to Max that, although Shane would recover after some physiotherapy, he would never be able to dive again, as he could risk becoming permanently disabled.
