Tuong Pham 1998-2000
Occupation: Law Student, Entrepreneur

Toadfish Rebecchi first came across talented law student and entrepreneur Tuong Pham during a university mock trial. Although Toadie’s luck appeared to be against him, not only because ditzy Amy Greenwood was his key witness, but because he split water all over his case notes, he ended up beating Tuong. Tuong saw another competitive opportunity a couple of months later when a flying machine competition was held, with the winners receiving a $7000 bequest from Madge Bishop’s grandfather, Jack, one of the original residents of the area. Tuong teamed up with an aeronautical engineering student, Henry Lam, to easily win the competition and the prize with their entry, The Flying Potoroo. Tuong later started helping out with the university’s radio station, UNIfm, where he found himself caught in-between warring DJs Toadie and George Caruana.

The following year, Tuong helped to organise the student elections at the university, staging a debate between candidates Lance Wilkinson and the mysterious Sandy Swimmer, an opponent who was trying to discredit Lance’s campaign. Lance was shocked to discover that Sandy was in fact his housemate Toadie, and was even more stunned when, on the day of the election, Tuong announced Toadie as the winner. A few months later, Madge Bishop and Lou Carpenter decided that a website they’d gone into business with, Ozechef, wasn’t going to work out and they agreed to sell it. However, when Tuong and a friend offered $10,000 for it, Madge was appalled that Lou would con them into buying a website that looked like it might never make any profit. When the time came to do the final deal with Tuong, Madge was left alone with him for a moment, as Lou answered the phone, and she took the opportunity to teach her old friend a lesson and sell Ozechef to Tuong for a knockdown price.
